Mr. Sayeed Ahmed, MP, is a Member of Parliament representing the Shariatpur-01 constituency in the 13th National Parliament. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Public Administration and is also a Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Shipping.
A distinguished leader in Bangladesh's insurance industry, Mr. Ahmed has served as the Chairman of Global Insurance PLC since 2019, having been actively involved in the insurance sector since 2000. He currently serves as the President of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) for the 2025-2026 term, marking a historic milestone as the first elected President of the Association since its inception in 1988. In addition to his leadership in the insurance sector, Mr. Ahmed serves as a Member of the Governing Body of the Bangladesh Insurance Academy and as an Executive Board Member of the International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh (ICC Bangladesh). His diverse leadership roles reflect his significant contributions to the insurance industry, business community, and public service.
Beyond his leadership in the insurance industry, Mr. Sayeed Ahmed holds esteemed positions in various business sectors.
He is the Chairman of Bangladesh Check Technology Ltd., Purity Foods Ltd., and Ahmed Foundation. He also served as the Vice Chairman of Global Insurance PLC. in 2010-11 and 2018-19. Additionally, he leads multiple enterprises as the Managing Director of Vantage Securities Ltd., City Homes Ltd., and Al Taiyer International Ltd.
Mr. Sayeed Ahmed's professional engagements extend to the shipping, banking, and logistics industries. He is the Proprietor of Ahmed Shipping Lines, Ahmed Inland Shipping Agency, A K International, and Ahmed Airways Services. He was a Sponsor Shareholder and former Chairman of Risk Management Committee and EC of Padma Bank Limited (formerly Farmers Bank Ltd.). He also holds leadership roles in the Bangladesh Cargo Vessel Owner Association, where he currently serves as President and Executive Committee Member, having previously served as Senior Vice President and General Secretary.
Apart from his business endeavors, Mr. Sayeed Ahmed is actively involved in social and sports organizations. He is a member of prestigious clubs, including Dhaka Club Ltd., Gulshan Society, Uttara Club Ltd., Kurmitola Golf Club Ltd., Dhanmondi Club Ltd., Bangladesh Flying Club Ltd., Chittagong Boat Club, and All Community Club Ltd.. His passion for sports is evident through his roles as Vice President of the Bangladesh Kho-Kho Federation and Rajdhani Shooting Club.
